Sinopsis:
Los vecinos de un pequeño pueblo rural descubren que un demonio está a punto de nacer entre ellos. Intentan desesperadamente escapar antes de que nazca el mal, pero puede que sea demasiado tarde.
En una aldea remota donde dos hermanos encuentran a un hombre infectado por un demonio que está a punto de dar a luz al mal mismo. En un momento en que el exorcismo parece ser de poca utilidad para protegerse del mal, después de advertir a los vecinos de la ciudad, deciden deshacerse del hombre, pero simplemente logran ayudarlo a librar el infierno.
When brothers Pedro and Jimi discover that a demonic infection has been festering in a nearby farmhouse, they attempt to evict the victim from their land. Failing to adhere to the proper rites of exorcism, their reckless actions inadvertently trigger an epidemic of possessions across their rural community.

(CASTELLANO) Venía con el runrún de “la película de terror del año” y, sinceramente, me ha parecido una decepción. Tiene un par de set pieces que te dejan helado y un empaque visual potente —maquillaje asquerosamente eficaz, algún plano diurno que incomoda—, pero cuando toca sostener el miedo se refugia en el shock y el gore. Y no es lo mismo. Rugna domina el mal rollo y la crudeza, sí, pero confunde malestar con terror: te revuelve, más que asustarte. El arranque promete con su folclore rural y un universo de “embichados” que podría haber sido fascinante. Sin embargo, las reglas nunca quedan claras, el guion avanza a trompicones y los personajes encadenan decisiones que te sacan de la historia. Cuando intenta explicar su mitología pierde fuelle; cuando acelera, pisa la casquería para compensar la falta de tensión. Hay ideas brillantes (y valientes), pero no terminan de cuajar. En el debe: ritmo irregular, exposiciones verbales que cortan la atmósfera y un final que no remata el golpe. En el haber: momentos puntuales demoledores, una puesta en escena seca y un tono sin concesiones que algunos celebrarán. Yo salgo pensando que es más brutal que terrorífica. (ENGLISH) I came in with the “horror film of the year” buzz and, honestly, left disappointed. There are a couple of set pieces that freeze your blood and the craft is strong —disgustingly effective makeup, some unsettling daylight shots— but when it needs to sustain fear, it leans on shock and gore. That’s not the same. Rugna nails unease and harshness, yes, but he often confuses discomfort with horror: it churns your stomach more than it scares you. The opening teases a rural folklore and a universe of “embichados” that could’ve been fascinating. Yet the rules never feel clear, the script lurches forward, and characters stack up head-slapping choices that pull you out. When the film explains its mythology, it loses steam; when it accelerates, it piles on splatter to cover the lack of tension. There are bold, bright ideas, but they don’t quite cohere. On the minus side: uneven rhythm, talky exposition that punctures atmosphere, and a finale that doesn’t land the blow. On the plus: a few devastating moments, a lean, no-nonsense staging, and a ruthless tone some will love. I left thinking it’s more brutal than truly terrifying.
