Compañera perfecta (2025)

(CASTELLANO) Hay películas que no sabes muy bien qué esperar de ellas y, cuando menos te lo esperas, te sorprenden para bien. La acompañante es una de esas. Parece un capítulo largo y gamberro de Black Mirror, con tecnología inquietante, una atmósfera medio futurista, toques de comedia negra y unas cuantas escenas cargadas de violencia muy explícita. Pero lejos de quedarse en una propuesta loca, la historia engancha y va creciendo con ritmo e inteligencia. Sophie Thatcher está fantástica. Ya la conocía por Yellowjackets y por supuesto por el videoclip de Harness Your Hopes de Pavement, y aquí vuelve a demostrar que tiene una presencia magnética, incluso haciendo de androide. Jack Quaid también sorprende, sobre todo si vienes de verlo en The Boys, porque el papel que interpreta aquí está a años luz: más turbio, más sutil, y con una evolución muy bien construida. La película tiene un punto muy de "historia con moraleja", pero sin ponerse pesada. Juega con los tópicos de la masculinidad tóxica, del control, del miedo a la autonomía femenina... pero lo hace con humor ácido y sin perder de vista el entretenimiento. Técnicamente está muy cuidada, y aunque no inventa nada, lo que propone lo lleva hasta el final con estilo y mala uva. No es perfecta, pero sí muy disfrutable. De esas pelis que entran fácil, sorprenden y luego te dejan pensando un rato. Si te gusta el terror con mensaje y un poco de sátira, aquí tienes un buen plan. (ENGLISH) Some films catch you off guard. The Companion is one of those: it feels like a long, twisted episode of Black Mirror, with creepy tech, a semi-futuristic vibe, dark comedy, and some brutally graphic violence. But instead of being just another wacky concept, it’s got a story that grabs you and builds up with real rhythm and smarts. Sophie Thatcher is fantastic. I already knew her from Yellowjackets and of course the Harness Your Hopes video by Pavement, and here she proves once again she’s got a magnetic screen presence—even playing an android. Jack Quaid is also great, especially if you’re used to him in The Boys, because his character here is completely different: darker, more nuanced, and with a well-built arc. The film leans into the whole “tech with a moral” idea, but without getting preachy. It plays with themes like toxic masculinity, control, and the fear of female autonomy, but does it with biting humor and always keeps the fun factor alive. Visually it's polished, and while it doesn’t reinvent anything, it pushes its concept all the way with style and guts. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely a good time. One of those films that goes down easy, surprises you, and leaves you thinking. If you’re into horror with a message and a bit of satire, this is a solid choice.
