Bad Boys: Hasta la muerte

(CASTELLANO) Van cuatro ya, y la fórmula sigue funcionando… más o menos. Ride or Die no se esfuerza por inventar nada nuevo, pero sabe perfectamente lo que es: una ración de acción desbordada, chascarrillos entre colegas y persecuciones imposibles que no buscan lógica, solo espectáculo. Y si entras en el juego, te lo pasas bien. Yo lo he hecho. Will Smith y Martin Lawrence mantienen intacta su química, aunque esta vez el que se lleva los mejores momentos es Lawrence, con ese humor cascado y autoparódico que le sienta tan bien. Smith, por su parte, parece algo más contenido, como si fuera él quien estuviera planteándose si no es hora de pasarle el testigo a alguien más joven. No es que estén para jubilarse, pero ya no tienen el cuerpo de hace veinte años… y el guion se encarga de recordarlo constantemente. La historia va a mil por hora, como si temiera que el espectador pestañee y se pierda algo. Eso hace que a ratos sea algo caótica, pero no llega a romperse. La dirección de Adil & Bilall tiene ritmo y mucho músculo visual. Algunas escenas de acción son espectaculares, y aunque haya explosiones de más, no cansa tanto como otras entregas de sagas similares. No es perfecta, ni falta que le hace. Cumple con lo prometido: dos horas de entretenimiento veraniego, con suficientes momentos potentes como para justificar la entrada. Quizá la franquicia ya no tenga mucho más que ofrecer, pero si lo que viene es tan digno como esto… pues oye, que no se detenga el coche todavía. (ENGLISH) We’re on the fourth one already, and somehow the formula still works… more or less. Ride or Die doesn’t try to reinvent anything, but it knows exactly what it is: a dose of over-the-top action, buddy banter, and ridiculous chases that care little for logic and go all-in on spectacle. And if you’re on board with that, it’s a good time. I was. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence still have great chemistry, though this time it’s Lawrence who steals the show with his worn-down, self-deprecating humor. Smith, on the other hand, feels a bit more reserved—almost like he’s wondering whether it’s time to pass the baton to someone younger. They’re not that old yet, but the script makes sure to remind us they’re not twenty anymore. The plot moves at full speed, almost as if it’s afraid you’ll blink and miss something. It gets a little chaotic here and there, but never truly falls apart. Adil & Bilall’s direction brings energy and strong visual flair. Some of the action scenes are impressive, and even though there’s probably one explosion too many, it’s not as exhausting as other franchise installments. It’s not perfect, and it doesn’t need to be. It delivers what it promises: two hours of summer blockbuster fun, with enough solid moments to justify the ride. Maybe the franchise doesn’t have that much more gas in the tank—but if what’s coming is as decent as this, hey, let the car keep rolling a little longer.
