Resumen
Cuando naves extraterrestres comienzan a llegar a la Tierra, los altos mandos militares piden ayuda a una experta lingüista (Amy Adams) para intentar averiguar si los alienígenas vienen en son de paz o suponen una amenaza. Poco a poco la mujer intentará aprender a comunicarse con los extraños invasores, poseedores de un lenguaje propio, para dar con la verdadera y misteriosa razón de la visita extraterrestre...
Unas misteriosas naves espaciales aterrizan por todo el mundo. Un equipo, liderado por la lingüista Louise Banks, intenta descifrar el motivo de su visita. The film is based on a short story "Story of Your Life" and the filmmakers consulted experts in phonetics, linguistics and art to ensure accuracy in the movie's language and visuals. The story explores themes such as communication and the nature of time, but the reviewer found the film to be slow-burning and lacking in impact. The movie looks good and has a solid premise, but it did not grip the reviewer as much as it hoped, and the ending felt unsatisfying. The performances by Amy Adams and the rest of the cast were good, but the supporting characters were underused.
