(CASTELLANO) La vieja guardia 2 llega como una continuación directa que intenta expandir el universo presentado en la primera entrega, pero tropieza más de lo deseado. La historia mantiene el tono serio y reflexivo, pero se nota menos inspirada, más difusa, y con momentos que, en lugar de avanzar la trama, parecen arrastrarla. No es que sea una mala película, pero el entusiasmo que generó la original aquí se diluye, víctima de una narrativa que nunca termina de despegar. El reparto sigue siendo uno de los puntos fuertes. Charlize Theron aporta presencia, y la incorporación de nuevos nombres como Thurman o Henry Golding parecía prometedora. Sin embargo, el guion no les da espacio suficiente para brillar. Hay personajes que entran y salen sin dejar huella, relaciones que no se desarrollan, y conflictos que apenas se esbozan. Las escenas de acción, si bien correctas, no alcanzan el nivel de la primera parte. Falta tensión, falta creatividad. Incluso la persecución en la montaña, uno de los pocos picos de adrenalina, queda aislada en un conjunto que avanza con el piloto automático. El tono demasiado solemne y la ausencia de humor hacen que la película se tome más en serio de lo que debería, perdiendo una oportunidad de ser más ligera y disfrutable. Hay ideas interesantes sobre el paso del tiempo, la soledad de los inmortales y la culpa acumulada, pero se pierden entre tramas que no emocionan y un montaje que no ayuda. Todo parece hecho con corrección, pero sin alma. Como si los responsables se sintieran obligados a continuar, pero sin tener muy claro por qué. En definitiva, La vieja guardia 2 no insulta la inteligencia del espectador, pero tampoco lo seduce. Es entretenida en algunos tramos, pero irregular y olvidable. Una secuela que hace que uno valore aún más los aciertos de la primera, y que deja en duda si esta historia necesita realmente una tercera parte. It's not a bad movie, but the excitement sparked by the first film is diluted here, the victim of a narrative that never truly takes off. The cast remains one of its strongest assets. Charlize Theron commands the screen, and the addition of big names like Thurman or Henry Golding looked promising. Yet the script doesn't give them enough to do. Characters come and go without impact, relationships feel underdeveloped, and conflicts are barely sketched out. Action scenes, while competent, fall short of the first installment. There’s a lack of tension and creativity. Even the mountain chase—one of the few adrenaline highs—feels isolated in a film that moves on autopilot. The overly solemn tone and absence of humor make the film more self-important than it should be, missing a chance to be lighter and more enjoyable. There are some interesting ideas about time, the loneliness of immortality, and accumulated guilt, but they get lost in underwhelming subplots and clunky editing. Everything feels done with technical precision, but without soul. As if the filmmakers felt obliged to continue—but without knowing exactly why. In short, The Old Guard 2 doesn’t insult the audience’s intelligence, but neither does it win them over. Entertaining in parts, but uneven and forgettable. A sequel that makes you appreciate the first one more—and question whether a third is even needed.
