(CASTELLANO) Me ha gustado más de lo que esperaba, y seguramente también porque la crítica la puso tan a parir que entré ya con cierta curiosidad. A veces pasa: cuando todo el mundo te dice que algo es un desastre, apetece comprobarlo por uno mismo. Y en este caso, sin parecerme una gran película, me lo he pasado mejor de lo que muchos daban a entender. Es verdad que tiene problemas. El guion es irregular, hay cosas que están cogidas con pinzas y da la sensación de que, en algunos momentos, la película no sabe muy bien si quiere ser historia de orígenes, thriller raro o simple arranque de otra cosa. Pero, aun así, tiene un punto extraño que a mí no me ha molestado. Dakota Johnson, además, me funciona. Tiene una manera muy seca, casi desganada a veces, de llevar el personaje, y entiendo que a muchos les saque de la película, pero a mí me encaja bastante con ese aire raro que tiene todo el conjunto. No la veo tan desastrosa como se ha dicho. La acción tampoco es su punto fuerte y hay escenas que podrían estar mucho mejor resueltas, eso sí. Pero no me ha aburrido, que al final en este tipo de cine ya es bastante. Y también me ha gustado que no siga exactamente el mismo tono épico de otras películas del género, aunque eso haga que se sienta más rara y menos redonda. Quizá parte del rechazo venga de que no responde a lo que muchos esperan de una película de superhéroes. Aquí no hay grandeza ni espectáculo constante, y a veces parece casi una película de transición que otra cosa. Pero justo por eso me resulta más curiosa que otras propuestas muchísimo más formulaicas. En conjunto, no diría que sea una gran película ni mucho menos, pero sí una bastante más entretenida y singular de lo que su fama sugiere. Igual me gusta ir un poco a contracorriente, pero esta vez no me pesa reconocerlo: me ha gustado. (ENGLISH) I liked it more than I expected, and probably also because critics tore it apart so aggressively that I went in already curious. Sometimes that happens: when everyone tells you something is a disaster, you feel like checking it out for yourself. In this case, without thinking it’s a great film, I had a better time with it than many reviews suggested I would. It’s true that it has problems. The script is uneven, some things feel shaky, and at times the movie doesn’t seem entirely sure whether it wants to be an origin story, a strange thriller, or simply the beginning of something else. Even so, it has an odd quality that didn’t bother me. Dakota Johnson also works for me. She has a very dry, almost disengaged way of playing the character, and I understand why that throws some people off, but to me it fits the strange mood of the whole film. I don’t find her nearly as disastrous as people have said. Action isn’t really its strongest point, and there are scenes that could clearly have been handled much better. But I wasn’t bored, and in this kind of movie that already counts for a lot. I also liked that it doesn’t follow exactly the same epic tone as other superhero films, even if that makes it feel weirder and less polished. Maybe part of the backlash comes from the fact that it doesn’t deliver what many people expect from a superhero movie. There’s no real grandeur here, no constant spectacle, and at times it almost feels like a transitional film more than anything else. But that is also why I find it more curious than many far more formulaic entries. Overall, I wouldn’t call it a great film, not at all, but I do think it’s far more entertaining and singular than its reputation suggests. Maybe I just enjoy going against the tide, but this time I don’t mind admitting it: I liked it.
